Project Marshall

Safety For became involved in Project Marshall with Thales UK in 2016 after previous Principal Designer had failed to meet their obligations, leaving the Client at risk of non-compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations

Project Marshall is a £1.5 billion Ministry of Defence (MOD) project which will transform the military Air Traffic Management (ATM) capability at all MOD operated sites in the UK and overseas.

Construction work involves the installation of various ATM equipment, including radars and Wide Area Multilateration system; their superstructures and associated civils, all while allowing daily operations at the airfields to continue un-interrupted.

Initially Safety For were brought in by Thales UK to complete “Mode S”, covering 24 sites around the country. Following the successful completion of this phase, Safety For were awarded a contract to carry out the Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles for the remainder of the project which consist of another 35 sites across the UK and overseas.

Due to the scale of Project Marshall, Safety For are responsible for liaising with a large number of stakeholders from across the country, coordinating design risk management as part of the several different design teams. Safety For ensure that all projects are in compliance with bot the CDM 2015 Regulations and the stringent standard set by the MOD.
